SHOE International Network - www.shoe.org Founded 1997 by Sunci Nikolic (» Profile) & Fab Syz (»Profile) as a local (!) mailinglist in Zurich, the SHOE community grew and grew over the years into the biggest lesbian online community worldwide. The now 143'687 members strong community - is still to this day* - funded privately by Sunci & Fab. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Update Jan 2007: A little over a year ago we have introduced paid membership for extra features. Although we manage to breath a little bit more easily now, all costs are still not covered. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, in the year 2005, 8 years after starting this exciting adventure, we have become realistic and realized, that this community is not getting any smaller -> it keeps getting bigger! Which, in itself is of course absolutely fabulous *smile*. But it also means: more members -> more traffic - higher costs! We are now at the point, where the workload to maintain this site has become so great, that we were forced to reduce our normal jobs in order to keep the site running. Having less income, makes it very hard to keep on financing SHOE out of our own pockets. So at this stage in SHOE history, we are forced to think of alternative ways to fund the existence of www.shoe.org. This is where - hopefully - you, our members, will come in. If you like coming to SHOE-lalalaaaland and enjoy the many different things SHOE offers, then we would be more than happy if you would donate, whatever you can to SHOE - to ensure it's continued existence.
